Unveils Three New Personalized Services
ER-call,
Medication Reminders and Calendar Help Consumers Better Control
Their Health and Notify Loved Ones During Medical Emergencies
PLEASANTON,
CALIF., Feb. 11, 2000 PersonalMD.com, the first consumer-oriented
health site to launch online personal medical records, announced
today the introduction of ER-call, Medication Reminders and
an interactive health calendar.
ER-call
enables physicians to easily notify emergency contacts while
accessing the patients personal medical record. The emergency
contact will learn the location of the patient, the name of
the treating physician and the phone number of the facility
within minutes of the members entry into an ER.
Medication
Reminders allow members to be notified via pager, each and
every time they should be taking their medications. PersonalMD.com
has also added a calendar, which integrates Medication Reminders
and sends e-mails to members regarding other scheduled medical
activities, including physician visits. Like personalized
medical records and the PersonalMD-ER Card, these new services
were designed to further the companys commitment to empower
people to take greater control over their health and well
being, according to Alan R. Zwerner, MD, JD and senior vice
president of PersonalMD.com.
ER-call
ER-call
permits emergency personnel to concentrate on taking care
of the patient, based on his or her unique personal medical
record and current health problem, according to Zwerner.
Emergency physicians are extremely busy focusing on patient
care. They dont always have the time and resources to call
emergency contacts. ER-call expedites the contact process
while the patients online personal medical record is being
accessed.
While
retrieving a patients personal medical record for a PersonalMD.com
ER-call subscriber, the physician will be given an option
to provide a message verbally via fax phone, or by using a
computer keyboard. If the Internet is utilized, PersonalMD.coms
software converts the text to speech. Within minutes, the
service automatically dials the contact persons number and
plays the message from the physician.
Medication
Reminders
The
medication reminder feature has been designed to assist member
efforts to take their medications on the timetable prescribed
by their physicians, despite their hectic daily schedules.
Members can begin receiving medication reminder pages on their
alphanumeric pagers a soon as they register for the service
and complete the required information.
This
includes medication, dosage, time of day (with time zone)
and appropriate e-mail address for the members pager. The
service is available throughout the members alphanumeric
pager service area. Members can update their medication schedules
as often as necessary. All updates are automatically integrated
into member health records.
Calendar
This
calendar is designed to help members better manage their healthcare
activities. This interactive feature sends the member e-mail
reminders for events scheduled on his or her calendar. Medication
reminders are automatically integrated into the calendar for
easy viewing.
All
services will be free through March 31, 2000 to give members
an opportunity to familiarize themselves with these extremely
personalized features. Beginning April 1, 2000, the ER-call
feature will cost $29.95 annually; while medication reminders
will be available for $9.95 a month. The calendar service
will remain free of charge.
