PersonalMD.com Names Alan R. Zwerner, MD, JD to the Post of
Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning
PLEASANTON,

content, today announced the hire of Alan R. Zwerner, MD,
JD as senior vice president of strategic planning.

in the healthcare industry will be a tremendous asset as we

Dr.
Zwerner most recently served as chief medical officer and
senior vice president of Health Net, the largest network model
health plan in California serving more than 2.3 million members
statewide and a subsidiary of Foundation Health Systems (NYSE:
FHS). He has also held the position of president and CEO of
The Medical Quality Commission, which he led from a regional
organization owned by Unified Medical Group Association (UMGA)
to an independent national organization governed by a board
consisting of leaders from major health plans, provider groups,
healthcare purchasers and others interested in healthcare
issues. Dr. Zwerner took a leadership role in developing collaborative
programs with other organizations interested in improving
healthcare quality. He has served as director of Medical-Legal
Affairs at (UMGA) and vice president of Medical-Legal Affairs
at American Group Association (AMGA).
A
frequent author, lecturer and spokesperson on America's rapidly
changing health care, Dr. Zwerner has appeared on numerous
radio and television shows. In 1996, he was featured in a
cover story in Medical Economics entitled "Taking Back Health
Care: Doctors Must Work Together." Dr. Zwerner was named one
of California's 100 Most Interesting and Influential Healthcare
Leaders by California Medicine in 1997.

School of Law after one year as a visiting student at the
University of California's Hastings College of Law, and he
received a Certificate in Medical Management from the Graduate
School of Management at the University of California Irvine.
He is a fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and
Gynecologists and the American College of Legal Medicine and
holds numerous other professional memberships. Dr. Zwerner
is licensed to practice medicine in California and is a member
of the California Bar Association.
