Where Does Salt Fit In?

Most salt we eat comes from sodium chloride - better known as table salt. Most people get more than they need, so it's best to limit sodium and salt. Tips on how to cut down on salt:

  • Eat fewer highly salted snack foods.
  • When shopping, check the labels. Choose foods that are unsalted and lower in salt or sodium.
  • Use less salt at the table and when cooking.
  • Taste foods before adding salt.
