WASHINGTON, Jul 30 (Reuters) -- A Michigan processing company is recalling 200 pounds of sliced hams after listeria bacteria were detected in meat produced by the firm, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) said Thursday.
No illnesses have been reported in connection with the hams, the department said. Dearborn Sausage Company of Dearborn, Michigan, is recalling its "Spiral Sliced Ham with Glaze Packet" and "Sliced Hickory Ham," according to the USDA. The hams were produced on July 20 and were only distributed in Michigan.
Last year, 15 deaths and six miscarriages and stillbirths were linked to an outbreak of listeria associated with another Michigan company. That case prompted the USDA to study methods to halt the bacteria from spreading.
