Does this service supercede any programs of files I currently manage?
This online service enables you to organize all of your medical information in one place, much like you may use Quicken to organize your financial records. If you're like most people, your vital medical information is scattered among a number of sources that may not be available in a timely manner during an emergency.
PersonalMD.com's Medical Records Management service enables you to download all your data from your personal filing cabinet, primary physician and specialists' offices, pharmacies and other sources into your PersonalMD file.

How will this help me in case of an emergency?
This secure, confidential service is designed to give you the confidence and peace of mind inherent in knowing that in the event of an emergency, your medical team can access vital records instantaneously to assist them in providing the most efficient and effective treatment humanly possible.
Whether you're at home, or traveling, you can equip emergency physicians with vital information within seconds so they can provide you with better informed diagnosis and treatments. Even EKGs, and lab reports can be accessed as part of your records.

What If I don't want certain information in my file?
The key to PersonalMD.com's Medical Records Management service is that you are in complete control. You decide what information goes into your records, on the back of your PersonalMD-ER Card, and even into the hands of the emergency department physicians in case of emergency. Obviously, the more information you maintain in your record and provide on the card, the quicker emergency department physicians can respond in case of an emergency.

How is this information organized?
The Medical Records Management service is initiated during the registration process. Your file will be divided into six categories: member information, medical information, medical history, E-file, manage account and view record. Member information required during this initial phase, includes basic data; e.g.: name, address, date of birth and e-mail. You will then be asked for your medical information.

If you fill in all of the requested data, your PersonalMD-ER Card will include: primary physician's name and number, primary family contact's name and number, blood type, whether or not you're an organ donor, allergies and drug sensitivities. Information you enter from a computer will automatically become part of the records authorized emergency physicians are able to access. You may also choose to fax records directly into your PersonalMD file by using E-file.

Are documents faxed in by me or my physician automatically entered into the data that can be accessed by emergency physicians?
At your discretion, these faxed documents can become part of your emergency record to be retrieved in a medical emergency.
If you'd like the faxed information to appear in reports seen by emergency department physicians, simply click on the document under E-file and move it to "Emergency Folder" - much like you would move a new message from "In-box" into another folder of your e-mail.
