Dr. Heinrichs is Professor (Emeritus)
and Past Chair of Gynecology and Obstetrics
at Stanford University School of Medicine,
in Palo Alto, Calif., where he served
as Professor and Chair of the Department
of Gynecology and Obstetrics and Chief
of the Gyn/Ob Service at Stanford University
Hospital from 1976-1984.
Before
that, he was a Professor of Obstetrics
and Gynecology at University of Washington
School of Medicine, Seattle, Washington.
Dr. Heinrichs earned his M.S. and his
Ph.D. in Biochemistry from University
Oregon Medical Sciences University, after
earning his M.D. with Honors from University
of Oklahoma School of Medicine.
He
has received innumerable honors, and his
articles have appeared in Science, the
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology,
The Journal of Reproductive Medicine,
and many other professional publications.
In addition, he has served as the acting
editor of Gynecologic Investigation, an
International Journal of the Science of
Reproduction and as a member of the Editorial
Board of the Western Journal of Medicine.
Dr.
Heinrichs has co-authored two books on
Women's health care, the last published
in 1999, and sponsors a Webpage on Women's
Health Promotion. He is a semi-final judge
(health) for the GII Awards for Global
Information Infrastructure.
Dr.
Heinrichs is currently a Visiting Scholar/Surgeon
at SUMMIT where he is developing anatomically
correct, human 3D models as the virtual
environment for computer-assisted teaching
of pelvic anatomy and videoendoscopic
surgery.
