Every year, people die or do not get the best treatment in emergency rooms because important medical information is not available to emergency department physicians in a timely manner.

PersonalMD Emergency Card is designed to be carried in your wallet which contains instructions to retrieve you complete medical information either through the Internet or (in case you don't have immediate access to the web), you can use PersonalMD's fully automated fax back system. This customized ER card has printed on the back your primary physician & family contact's name and telephone number, your blood type, any allergies or drug sensitivities you may have and other vital information you feel is necessary.

Emergency physicians, who must make split second decisions regarding treatments and drugs, tell us that timely access to a patient's relevant medical information can mean the difference between life and death. In the advent of an emergency, physicians anywhere in the world, upon your authorization, can receive this crucial information upon arrival in the emergency department&or earlier by having the paramedics be authorized to alert emergency department physicians to patient's medical information while en route to the hospital. Physicians call this service a breakthrough in the emergency physician's ability to make informed, split second decisions regarding the health of patients.

Even if your reason for visiting the emergency room is not life-threatening, granting permission for the physician to access the information on your PersonalMD-ER Card eliminates the possibility of physicians administering medications to which you may be allergic.

It also can alert physicians to personal or family history of related problems, reduces the need for many tests routinely given to incoming ER patients and eliminates the worry of remembering all of your medical information during an extremely stressful time.

How do I get it?

By registering to become a Premier Member!

The registration process takes only about 10 minutes. There are about 4 forms that you need to fill -- these forms have been designed by our staff physicians. Apart from a few required data elements most of the information is optional. You are in total control at all times on how much or how little information you want in your record.

Once you complete the registration process, you can then customize the PersonalMD ER Card to your liking and click "Send Me The ER Card"!. We will mail the card within a few days...it's that simple!
